The 10 Commandments of a Christian Home Based Business
VI.
Thou Shalt Humble Thyself.
It was a day that I was really struggling and I asked the Lord to
humble me. His response to my heart was quick and clear as He quoted
scripture back to me:
"Humble Yourself." (found in James & I Peter.)
I was asking the Lord to do something for me that was very clear I
was supposed to take the initiative on. With that revelation, I begun
to go out of my way to ask questions, accept help, and seek out those
who knew more than I did.
Many new Christian home based business owners, especially in mlm
training, get set up by those who bring them into business. They are
told that they don't need much training. They are told that anyone
can do their business. They are told that it isn't sales, just
"sharing." All of which are lies that promote pride in the
hearer. If you don't think you need help when you actually do, you
are prideful - genuinely deceived or not.
Take a on-going posture of humility and teachableness in your
business. I have had 3 different Christian Home Based Businesses that
were successful, two in mlm, one not. Part of my success has been to
keep open and keep learning.
Another revelation that keeps pride in check is the attitude that I
can learn from anyone. Many mlm teams can become cult like in their
attitudes and practices. When new tools, especially those that can
promote multiple streams of income for the business owner, they seem
paranoid and reject outside wisdom.
Stay humble - it is up to you. When you do, there is much grace for
your life and business:
"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
Quoted by James from Proverbs.
